Graffiti Workshop

Speak Out’s Transition Project held its first creative advocacy workshop at the Brighthelm Centre on 29th November 2024. Nine young people from 2 local colleges - St John’s and Life Skills - and from Team Domenica took part in the workshop which was led by local graffiti artist and youth voice leader Tom Goulden.
The theme of the workshop was ‘housing’. We asked the young people to think about what is important to them when it comes to where they live, both now and in the future. The ideas they came up with included having choicelearning life-skills, and being close to friends and family. These words were used to create a colourful spray-painted mural on an exterior wall of the Brighthelm Centre. The group also used graffiti pens to make the bright banners that form part of this exhibition.
The workshop was planned and organised by Speak Out’s Young Person’s Steering Group which is busy planning more exciting advocacy events for 2025.
